A lifelong debate is whether dogs make for better pets than cats. I think that there are a ๐ข๐๐ก๐ก๐๐ค๐ฃ reasons why dogs are better than cats, but luckily for you, Twitterโs word limit (smh) means I am only able to share a few. 2/19
๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ ๐: Cats & litter trays are kindof a package deal. Right next to your lovely, velvet, highly instagrammable chaise lounge (that even Kylie wouldnโt mind taking a selfie in front of) is a box of literal piss to massively ruin the aesthetic of your insta feed. 3/19
Dogs kindly take their business outside; you could say they are much more civilised in that sense. If you like your carpets pee-free then pick a pawsome friend that respects the aroma of your home. 4/19
๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ ๐: Aside from litter trays, cat food STINKS! Cat food is gross, like who even invented that?? In my opinion, cat food smells like the chunder you have to drunkenly dodge as you cross the street from the club to the kebab shop; 5/19
which in all fairness, doesnโt smell much better. Dog food is generally dry & odour-less, which we all know wonโt hurt the phen shui of your kitchen. 6/19
๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ ๐: Dogs look like this (enough said) 7/19
๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ ๐: Indoor cats are as dull as dishwater because they donโt need to be walked, & outdoor cats just fuck off of their own accord & turn up at your backdoor 3 hours later when they want feeding. 8/19
Dogs, however, require exercise so we are forced to take them on walks &, as a result, also get exercise. Going on a daily walk to a park or just around the block will allow us to get some fresh air. 9/19
Leading psychology experts have linked exercise to better mental health (see Mariana Plataโs Zumba โBefore and After Projectโ for more on this https://www.psychologytoday.com/gb/blog/the-gen-y-psy/201810/how-exercise-can-boost-your-mental-health) so dogs are basically positivity machines full of love & happiness & rainbows - pretty cool right? 10/19
๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ ๐: Cats do not respect privacy. Cats walk around all day with their tails in the air & their arseholes on display; sometimes, if youโre lucky, with a little nugget of poo lingering on a tuft of nearby fur like a man holding on to a cliff edge. 11/19
This does not bode well with the privy and conservative nature of us British. 12/19
๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ ๐: Fur balls - what is with that?? I donโt know about you but Iโd rather not have the sound of retching as the soundtrack to my romantic friday night with my darling bf (lol we all know I donโt have a bf, letโs just pretend I do so I can make a point). 13/19
Iโd also rather not roll out of bed first thing in the morning (okay... 12pm at best) & step in a wet, wirey, gross ball of my cats regurgitated fur. Yep, itโs official: cat people are weird. (Yes I only wrote 6 points, idc) 14/19
I know that you, my followers, are highly intelligent individuals so I was not surprised that the results of my Instagram poll saw dogs way in the lead as a preference over cats. I am curious to see whether there is a difference on Twitter so RT for dog and like for cat. 15/19
Although this thread is lighthearted and sweet, there is a more serious undertone. Research has shown that 130,000 dogs are sent to UK rehoming organisations per year. @DogsTrust are desperate, especially in these times of global pandemic and fear, for your support. 16/19
We urge that you get on board and join the mission to save rescue dogs from being put down when they fail to be adopted. Commonly, dogs find themselves in a rehoming charity due to improper training resulting in tricky behaviours being formed which owners cannot control. 17/19
@DogsTrust have recently launched a new service called Dogs Trust Dog School which provided behavioural classes & guidance for owners & their pets. 18/19
The aim of this service is to reduce the number of dogs in need of rehoming by improving temperament & the relationship between pet and family before the owner feels they cannot look after their dog any longer. To get involved please visit http://dogstrust.org.uk 19/19
