/5. Thoughts on the Downgrade at SBTS Videos: In the 1st video, the extravagant claims of liberalism were not justified at all. Hernandez defended himself well in the video with Jim Hamilton, but he could have been nasty & accused his accusers of materialism & rationalism.
/5. ANE myth portrays pagan gods as real & they may well be real, altho from the bib. per. we see that they are really fallen angelic beings posing as rivals to YHWH, which is ridiculous b/c they are mere creatures. The point is, we don't need act like Bultmann when we see myth.
/5. In the 2nd video, all the weaknesses of the single-meaning theory are on display. Many conservative biblical scholars assert that Divine authorial intent cannot exceed human authorial intent, but that is just incompatible with our doctrine of inspiration.
/5. DAI is an extension of HAI, but never contradicts it - b/c of inspiration, which guarantees that the text says what God wants it to say. Fuller totally misses the pt. on creeds & assumes that postmodern relativism is the only alternative to the (human) single-meaning theory.
/5. I think Fuller is sincere but wrong to jump to the conclusions to which he jumps. All the expertise in Hebrew in the world does not substitute for a deep understanding of hermeneutics & systematic theology. We should discuss these things but leave our guns at home.
