Today's numbers for hospitalizations, ICU and ventilators:
Hospitalizations: 912 (-49)
ICU: 147 (-6)
Ventilators: 119 (-1)
Basically, another frustrating day. Another day of more than 400 new cases (5-day average is now 416.) Still testing at about half capacity. Number of active cases is up about 13% over the week, now at 3846.
I have been trying not to be overly alarmist in communicating these numbers on the theory that panicking isn't going to help anyone but this has basically been a lost week, as far as progress against the pandemic goes.
To put it simply, here's the last two weeks of daily new COVID-19 cases in Ontario. Note which direction the trendline is pointing. Hint: it's not going where we want.
I mostly keep work (Twitter) and family (FB) separate, so FB gets pictures of the Irrational Biped and Twitter gets the news stuff.

I posted this to FB earlier today.
