Because of COVID-19, I am getting a much needed break from traveling nonstop and am able to sit with myself, my partner, and life to change bad habits, mend wounds, and grow spiritually. It solidified for me that I need the space to think, create, and reflect to be my best self.
It also solidified that I really dislike working from home! As an extravert, I depend people’s energy to fill me. I miss my friends, family members, and coworkers. I miss going places and doing things that involve people.
I feel less inclined to work and sometimes don’t feel as motivated to productive - which also triggers my perception of self worth because it’s tied to performance, creation, and execution of things. What helps me is to have a structure routine to keep me grounded and energized.
A morning routine: stretch, meditate, walk/run, cook/eat. Set firm time to start and end work: 9 - 5 or6 (depending on the work load) with 3 scheduled breaks in between: 1) 15 min excercises, 2) Lunch, 3) 15 min walk. Evening: cook, connect to ppl, read, podcast, TV shows, etc.
This pandemic hits us all in different ways. So it’s imperative that we find ways to cope, not to produce, but to stay sane. I also recognize that I’m coming from a place of privilege as someone with a job who can work from home. I understand if this isn’t everyone’s truth.
