It's 35 years since the release of A View to a Kill & having recently re-watched it, I thought I'd reappraise Tanya Roberts' character Stacy Sutton, usually & unfairly ranked near the bottom any time anyone ranks Bond girls.

In Stacy's first scene in the film she's totally un-intimidated by the villainous Zorin when he gives her a cheque for $5M &, unlike many before & since, successfully rebuffs Bond's advances.

Later, Bond sees her in San Francisco City Hall, where she works as a geologist. She later proves herself far more capable at her job than her hapless boss, Howe.

Bond tails her home, where, thinking him one of Zorin's men she tricks him into believing she's in the shower, & pulls a gun on him.

When Zorin's men turn up moments later, she immediately joins the fight, and uses her grandfather's ashes to knock out an assailant. No shrinking violet is Stacy.

After explaining that Zorin is trying to buy her grandfather's oil business & sent his men to convince her, she rips up his cheque instead, a bold move.

Stacy also gets Bond to cook her dinner, how many other Bond girls have managed that?

#AVTAKat35
Bond & Stacy go to City Hall, where they're trapped by Zorin in an elevator while he sets fire to the building. It's here Stacy gets her reputation for screaming, but, to be fair to her, she is left in a burning elevator shaft while Bond leaves.

As they make their getaway in a fire truck, it's Stacy who's behind the wheel when they jump the bridge, and during this scene becomes the first (perhaps the only) Bond girl to swear, she says "Sh!t"

#AVTAKat35
When they reach Zorin's mine it's Stacy who has the idea of disguising herself in overalls. It's hardly her fault that she couldn't find one that fit... 😉

After being captured by Zorin & taken on his airship she still manages to fight off his men & escape onto the Golden Gate Bridge, which she hangs off, without complaining.

Finally, a lot has been said of the age gap between Tanya & Roger, yet, at the time of the film's release she was 29, older than both Mary Stavin (Kimberley Jones) &
Fiona Fullerton (Pola Ivanova), then both 28, and Alison Doody (Jenny Flex), then only 18.
