Something (else!) that really pisses me off about the cabinet's defence of Dominic Cummings is that it promotes the idea that having a child is a more important, more valid relationship than other care-giving, romantic or platonic ones.
Like, it's OK to break the rules which supposedly apply to everyone for your kid's sake, but not to go and visit your sick (or even dying) parent, or have your lover who your heart is sick with longing for visit you, or to hug that lonely friend you're worried about.
Having children doesn't give you carte blanche to do whatever you please & then say "I did it for my child". They're not a licence. The having or not of them doesn't give you more or fewer rights than everyone else. Dominic Cummings broke rules that apply to everyone. All of us.
