41. Teleorman

The butt of Romania?? there is nothing nice about this place, I’ve even struggled to find somewhat decent photos of this place. You’ll find only old people, alcoholics and poverty + nasty politicians here

40. Vaslui

The same as Teleorman, with even more alcohol + domestic violence. It’s arguably even worse than Teleorman, but I’ve placed Vaslui higher because their accent is funny

39. Giurgiu

Another ????? county

Boring, dirty, poor and generally not a good place to live. I couldn’t tell you more about this place

38. Botoșani

The pictures themselves are kinda pretty, but the place... uhh well not so much, again, it’s rather poor and just not a good place to live so

37. Olt

idk, nothing interesting ever happens here.... with the exception of what happened last summer

36. Ialomița

nothing interesting to see here, flatter than the netherlands??? the only reason it’s “””this high””” is because they have easy access to the seaside and Bucharest, oh and they have a copy of the Eiffel Tower??

35. Călărași

the sister of Ialomița, just as plain and boring, i initially thought about ranking it higher because it has slightly nicer places along the Danube, but on second thoughts, i think i’ve robbed Ialomița? at least they’re more fun

34. Vrancea

earthquake HQ of Romania. if we’re ever to be destroyed by a natural disaster, it would most likely be an earthquake from here. this is also the place where the principalities of wallachia and moldova joined together to form romania, so that’s cute

33. Galați

uhh, well.... this place is famed for the mustard of Tecuci, but not much else? idk it has boats and stuff, it used to be cuter before communism

32. Brăila

the arch-enemy of Galați. they’re like 2 twin brothers who fight all the time. Brăila also has a superiority complex because they are technically not considered part of Moldova, but who are they kidding lol

31. Dolj

they’re like, the Texas of Romania, in a way???? idk, if a county of Romania were to be Texas, i feel like they would be the one idk. they’re cute and all but eh, they also have a bad reputation for gang sword fighting

30. Satu Mare

they’re, cute, unproblematic. they’re this “down” the list only because you don’t really hear much about them, they’re just doing their thing up there, they don’t bother anyone

29. Caraș-Severin

tbh this is another ? county. nothing much going on here, but they sure have some nice nature

28. Gorj

this county is famous for a sculptor who’s from here. there are many caves opened to the public in this area. oh and they speak in a tense that we don’t use in other parts of the country (??? i have no idea how to explain this, just look up “perfect simplu” on google)

27. Dâmbovița

ok, in hindsight, i thought this place would be more interesting since it’s the former capital of wallachia, but i might have been wrong perhaps it’s slightly overrated but anyways let’s move on

26. Buzău

there is not a single HD version of the coat of arms, sending but anyway, this place is famous for its pretzels and for the mud volcanos which are (i think) unique in Europe? correct me if i’m wrong

perhaps i’ve overrated this one too, i pretend i dont see it

25. Covasna

this is one of the two hungarian majority counties in the country. very pretty nature. i’ve never been here, but i’d definitely like to go

24. Harghita

the sister of Covasna, so the other county with a hungarian majority. again, amazing nature, i’ve never been, but i’d like to! and come on, that’s a heart shaped meadow aww

23. Sălaj

well tbh i think i’ve kind of overrated this one too? i suppose Sălaj is a nice place to retire or to run away and never be found again, if that’s your thing. just like Satu Mare, they’re inoffensive and unless you hit them up, they won’t make themselves noticed

22. Vâlcea

lots of wellness resorts, cute mountains, yeah, again one of those “run away from civilisation” places

21. Mehedinți

the views here along the Danube are spectacular. not an amazing place to live, but super cool to visit. oh and here you’ll find the largest stone sculpture in Europe (if i remember correctly)

i'm halfway through the list and i thought i'd make a quick recap to show the counties i've cover so far. as you can see, i think the north of the country >>> the south of the country

20. Ilfov

well, the place is basically Bucharest’s suburb. lots of people are flocking out of the bustling city in search for a house in a more tranquil place. oh and ilfov is home to the largest wellbeing center in south-eastern europe “therme bucuresti”

19. Argeș

the county is home to a huge dam which makes for a pretty sweet view and it also has the tallest point of the whole country, Moldoveanu Peak at 2544m

18. Bacău

another county i’ve no idea why i placed so high ?? i guess it’s not the prettiest, but it doesn’t make for a bad life?

17. Suceava

these guys are like the special snowflakes of Moldova. they do NOT like to be called moldovan and they will insist they live in Bucovina, a separate entity

fun fact: they started getting called the ‘Lombardy of Romania’ because of the number of COVID-19 cases

16. Neamț

i don’t really know what to say about this place other than that it’s beautiful? idk i’ve never been here but it looks nice

15. Bistrița Năsăud

these people are kinda mystical? i don’t think anybody’s ever seen a năsăudean or whatever they’re called. they have pretty places tho

14. Hunedoara

this place’s deadass got the real life version of Hogwarts, need i say more?

13. Tulcea

these people basically live on/in water?? there aren’t any roads here, they just kayak everywhere lmao. but on a more serious note, this place is the best preserved delta in the whole of Europe and it’s a safe heaven for hundreds of species of all kinda of animals

12. Maramureș

they are like the most slavic/ukrainians. i’m not convinced they are romanians. they also have a cool cemetery where they mock death and write funny poems about their lives on the funeral stones. i’m not sure they’re completely fine, but smile and wave y’all

11. Arad

they’re smashed right in-between their more famous neighours of Timișoara and Oradea. they’re cute, i bet they could do even better with a competent mayor . they also have a cool start fortress, but you can’t visit it because it’s an actual military base lmao

10. Iași

Moldova’s finest. This place’s got like the Romanian version of Versailles. They also make some amazing wine

9. Alba

this place is the historic heart of Transylvania. people have been living here since the Roman times, the name itself being actually Latin - Alba Iulia. they’ve also got an amazing citadel where there’s always some festival going on

8. Cluj

you know how i said Dolj was the Texas of Romania? well Cluj is like the California of Romania w/ lots of tech. they also have the biggest music festival in Romania and they also have the coolest salt mine you’ll ever visit. it’s 2000 years old and it houses a theme park

they’re a bit snobbish tho. when they walk into a party, they’re the diva and all eyes turn to them here’s a few more pics because otherwise they’ll complain i didn’t do them right

7. Mureș

from Maramureș to only just Mureș. if you come to Romania for the Dracula/Vampire/Halloween vibes, this is the place to be. This is where the real Vlad the Impaler was born. the citadel of Sighișoara is an absolute delight. 10/10 i want to move here

6. Timiș

they like to brag about being the “forehead” of the country??? idk. this is where the Romanian Revolution of 1989 which led to the fall of the communist regime started. they’re cool, all western and shit

5. Prahova

this county is like - vacation HQ for the romanians. hiking in the summer, skiing in the winter. really good views and yum food
