So, in my class yesterday on automation, I was demonstrating how to automate Reddit content and we came across what was basically a suicide note, posted an hour before we viewed it. Now I know how many suicide notes are posted online and that... (1/x)
many of them are trolling or drama chasers but I feel as though they all need to be taken seriously, especially if you know nothing about the author. I was in the middle of the seminar but had my staff call it in. Have you ever come across this sort of thing? (2/x)
What& #39;s the protocol for something like that? You report it to the social network. You call your local police? Suicide hotline? Suicide subreddit? We don& #39;t know where the author lives, no history for the account, I wasn& #39;t even logged in to try to start a conversation but (3/x)
even if I was, I& #39;m not qualified to talk someone down from a ledge. What would you do if you randomly came across a recently posted suicide note on the internet in a social network where you don& #39;t have an account? (4/4)
Addendum: would you have stopped a seminar to call it in? I& #39;m lucky I had a few people around who could do that for me. I don& #39;t always.
And I ask this bc what if it& #39;s just a troll, or even a known troll who posts that ever day in that forum but you don& #39;t know that so you stop everything and... I guess the troll wins bc it& #39;s not something to ignore?
