Thread on the reopening of children’s nurseries:

There’s all this talk about wether schools should open or not, and as a parent, wether you would send them to school or keep them at home with you, if that is an option. I have a slightly different scenario. Myself and my .....
..... partner are both furloughed, and our children go to nursery. Nursery cost is £47 per child, per day. As we are both furloughed, the closure of the nursery, and therefore savings of nursery fees has actually been a huge help to us. We have been advised however that .....
..... nursery is to open again from the start of June, and we have been invoiced and therefore are required to pay for this. When asked if there was an option to keep our children at home, and therefore not pay the fees until we require the use of the nursery, ie when one, .....
..... or both of us are back at work, we were advised that this is not an option, and we would lose of children’s places at nursery if we didn’t pay. We are therefore having to pay for full nursery fees, which isn’t cheap, whilst we are both on furlough, however we are also .....
..... keeping our children at home for now as we are not comfortable with them returning to that environment just yet. Is it me, or does this sound wrong of the nursery to insist on these fees. I understand if they choose to open they need the income to pay staff, but it .....
..... feels like the choice of wether we send our children back to nursery is being pressured and taken out of our hands. What’s anybodies thoughts on this? And is anybody else in the same situation as us?
