it would be funny if in the future, reborn shot tsuna w a dying will bullet but tsuna literally has no regrets left so he doesnt get up
and no one can bring themselves to blame reborn even if reborn does because this might be for the best. its a painless death, one without regret, and all they can do is live their lives the way tsunayoshi would want them to.
they go their separate ways, each of them focusing on an aspect to keep vongola running. once in a while, though, they have a family gathering.
it's a rare occasion, a rare sight, but mukuro and kyoya are on their best behavior. chrome would bring the prettiest of flowers and hayato is very particular about the candles
it's takeshi who prepares the food with the help of lambo and ryohei who, for once, doesnt spill anything in the kitchen
it's a very quiet affair. somewhere with a good view of the sky, so that if ever tsuna is watching over them, he would be able to see them clearly. chrome gently runs her fingers through lambo's hair while the rest silently drink
and then, as tradition, they would revisit memories of the past

"do you remember that time we tried to teach him how to swim and you nearly drowned him?"

"the muffins boss made are very delicious"

"tsuna-nii played a lot of games with me even though he must be very tired"
a quiet conversation under the all encompassing sky. they talk as if tsuna is sitting with them, like hes laughing with them, like hes right there because he must be, hayato says, with the time engraved in the rings
kyoya is always the first to leave. mukuro will follow after him. the rest of them linger, but they eventually go back to their routines
it's hayato who lingers, who is always the last to leave, although sometimes, the others come back to stay a little longer
he stays and he says, with a sincere smile - not happy but not sad, just one without regrets - "thank you for everything, juudaime"
"you can rest easy. we're going to be alright, i promise. so please don't worry about us."
(sometimes, it's takeshi who overhears with a painful looking smile as he waits for hayato to leave. sometimes, it's chrome with her hands wrapped tight around her trident, expression pinching painfully like she wants to cry.)
(sometimes, they don't have the words or the courage to say the words they want to say. kyoya spoke best with his violence and mukuro rarely ever spoke his mind.

so they listen. eyes closed, arms crossed over their chests, somewhere unseen.

it's okay, they think.)
(it's enough because tsuna would understand.)
