Nhare/ Mbira Dzemudzimu. Mainly used in the ancestral worship, spirit possession and entertainment.
It is this mbira which made most missionaries to demonize the instrument.
In popular music it& #39;s now used as a voice accompaniments or just a stand alone instrument.
Njari
Closely linked to the Njanja sub tribe in Buhera and the Portuguese merchants from Mozambique abt 300 yrs ago. It is popular for entertainment at VaShona& #39;s traditional social gatherings. A variant of this mbira is called Njari Manyonga which has more notes @Wamagaisa
Nyunga Nyunga
Is mainly a musical instrument meant to express the beauty of music as it can sound multiple notes simultaneously. Most musicians use this mbira. @HopeMasike is a classical one
