Nhare/ Mbira Dzemudzimu. Mainly used in the ancestral worship, spirit possession and entertainment.
It is this mbira which made most missionaries to demonize the instrument.
In popular music it's now used as a voice accompaniments or just a stand alone instrument.
Njari
Closely linked to the Njanja sub tribe in Buhera and the Portuguese merchants from Mozambique abt 300 yrs ago. It is popular for entertainment at VaShona's traditional social gatherings. A variant of this mbira is called Njari Manyonga which has more notes @Wamagaisa
Nyunga Nyunga
Is mainly a musical instrument meant to express the beauty of music as it can sound multiple notes simultaneously. Most musicians use this mbira. @HopeMasike is a classical one
