A story of tradition

Today I will tell you a short story, A story of tradition

There was a house in a village where a family lived, 3 brothers together in a large house. They had a well from which they got water for drinking and other purposes...
The well was dug many years ago during the time of their Great Grandfather, the well was outside the house. The water of the well sustained them all, unlike their neighbors they had no need to fetch water from river.
Once during night an animal fell in the well and died, body started decomposing and a foul smell surrounded the well, but the family kept using same water, for drinking, bathing etc.
Their neighbours asked them, "why are you using this water? Can't you smell?"

The family replied, we have been drinking water from this well since the time of our Grear grandfather, it's our tradition, we won't stop now.
Neighbours tried to explain them many times, but the family kept Insisting that it was their tradition to drink from this well, even after some people got I'll from drinking that water they didn't stop. Finally they all died.
If they had removed the dead animal from the well before using that water, they would have survived.
Same thing is happening with us, we had a great culture in ancient times, we had knowledge, we had great traditions
Then came greed, corruption and invasion, these caused adulterations in our original beliefs and traditions. What will happen if we don't Identify and remove them and keep following same adulterated traditions?
Same what happened to the family which kept drinking rotting water
Many adulterations such as Child marriage, sati, Untouchability have been identified, we just need to remove them else this beautiful culture will suffocate.

We must act now.

(My mother told me this story when I was a child)
