Had bet with The Boss that the Tories and Tory journos would circle wagons to defend Cummings despite obvious wrongdoing. Her view is that this is so egregiously immoral that even the Tories must dump him. Hope I lose, tbh, but here’s why I think I won’t. 1/4

Firstly, I don’t think people realise just how industrially dishonest and immoral the Tory party now is. There are no honourable grandees in the background any more who would pull the plug to enforce standards. It is a party made up *entirely* of liars, loons and frauds. 2/4

Secondly, the cabinet, and the Westminster journalists, knew about this months ago. If they try to chuck him under the bus, his simple riposte is “why did you not care for the last month?”

They have to excuse him because they have to excuse their own prior knowing silence. 3/4

Finally, Cummings is a proper psychopath. He’s not a loyal Tory who’ll take one for the team. Cameron had his measure. If he’s binned, he’ll spray previous colleagues with the effluent from all the political corpses whose graves he can locate. And they know this. He’s safe. 4/4
