THREAD-#1 Everton 4 Utd 0, April 2019. Ole said some of these players WON’T be part of our future success. @GNev2 on Sky said “some Japanese knotweed needs clearing out”. This THREAD looks at the individuals who played that day. @samuelluckhurst @shauncustis @stewartgardner
THREAD-#2 14 players were involved in the game on that fateful day. Young and McTom I will include, although they were brought on at half time and it was already 2-0. Pereira on the day is exempt from any scrutiny. He entered the play at 4-0 in the 87th minute. That leaves 13.
THREAD-#3. Jones and Fred were hooked at half time, which might suggest that they were among the main culprits, but Fred played in the very next game, and has been a mainstay this season. De Gea, Lindelof, Martial, Rashford and Fred have been instrumental this season. 8 to go.
THREAD-#4 Pogba played at Goodison, but has been plagued by injuries this season. Ole has said on occasions that he could build a team around Pogba, plus he started all 4 of the first 4 league games before getting injured. We can assume Pogba is safe. That leaves 7. @OliverKay
THREAD-#5. Matic was in mid field that day and at the start of this season seemed to be out of favour. Matic was possibly amongst the players targeted, but if so, he’s turned it around. Matic is an important part of the team, playing in all the tougher fixtures now. @OllieHolt22
THREAD-#6 Dalot played left back at Goodison. Another who may have been a target of criticism. He is still around though and gets the odd game. According to reports both PSG and Barca are showing interest, but Utd want to keep him, we are told. If we believe that, that leaves 5.
THREAD-#7 McTominay was a half time substitute that day. He was a regular starter until getting injured in December. Matic grabbed his opportunity. McTom is fit again and back in the squad. He’s definitely a part of the rebuild. That leaves 4 to go. @MSamuelmail @henrywinter
