Cancer is a horrible disease and has touched a number of people I love and care for. In fact, I shaved off my beard for a local charity. Something about this #BreastCancerResearchAid leaflet shoved through my letterbox has piqued my interest. I've done a little research. /Thread

Looks like I'm not the only one who is suspicious of #BreastCancerResearchAid

It's a registered charity in England, Wales and Scotland. Odd that they are doing collections in Belfast and don't seem to be registered with @CharityCommNI

Their website is very pink, but does not list any Officers/Trustees, has sparse information on where the money goes and uses generic email address for contact details

It says that it supports @royalmarsden @royalmarsdenNHS @CUCancerInst and funds work done by Professor Matt Smalley and Professor Nicholas Turner. #BreastCancerResearchAid have no presence on Twitter, Facebook or Linkedin. They aren't the ones collecting - it's a third party company called Giving Support Limited. Odd structure.

#GivingSupportLimited guarantee to give #BreastCancerResearchAid £50 per year (that's a full stop). I find this disgraceful. I've created this thread so when people search, these results will come up. Continue to be charitable, but through reputable charities.
