TW: mention of suicide and abuse
.
.
i don't why more people aren't talking about this.
recently a 21 year old queer girl committed suicide because she was being tortured for conversion after she came out as a part of the LGBTQIA+ community. (1/n)
she was 21. only 21. her parents weren't considerate enough and thought of her traits as mental disorders. in a live stream she posted before taking her own life she talked about how she was tortured and sent at de-addiction centres. (2/n)
back in december she was forcibly taken to one of those centres. she wasn't only tortured physically, but also mentally. she tried convincing the "doctors" that she was okay and had no problems whatsoever yet those doctors put her under sedatives. (3/n)
she was then sent to a mental health centre. she was the youngest over there amongst the others being schizophrenics and old people who had no one to look after. only difference was, she was normal. her sexual orientation was taken as a disease because (4/n)
her orthodox family couldn't accept the fact that she was different. she spent nights at the centre crying by herself surrounded by a bunch of strangers. she was alone. she did not get the help she needed. she was not validated for who she was. she was looked down upon (5/n)
she was then taken to another de-addiction centre where she was shot with around 40 injections. after which she was bought back home but she could never feel herself again. she could not feel safe around her own people. (6/n)
she never felt loved and respected by her own family. so she decided to leave her place and went to goa with her friends at her hostel. her mom got so furious that she filed a missing report for her. she made threatening calls to her friends. (7/n)
she then called anjana and spoke with her in a disgusting language putting her down and forcing her to come down at the police station. anjana said she did not have enough energy to do so because of the medicines she was put on. she was later found dead. (8/n)
this a story about just one girl. we'll never know how many more are out there being tortured for who they truly are and coming out about it. these "conversion therapies" need to be banned. they look at us as if something is mentally wrong with us. (9/n)
we can't let the orthodox people take over us anymore. this is totally unacceptable. because of cases like these more and more young people will never feel safe enough to come out and talk about who they truly are because of the fear being looked down upon as "mentally ill" (10/n
we need to talk more about issues like this. being queer is NOT a disease. people lose lives because of it. please stop joking about the "gays" and using it as an insult. we need to make this is a safe place for the existing members of the community and (11/n)
for the upcoming people who are slowly feeling confident to come out of the closet. please spread love. we need it the most around the times like these. please make sure your friends and family is okay. (12/n)
it may sound a lot but please do not hesitate to speak up if things like these are happening to you. reach out to your supportive friends. we have multiple queer organizations you can reach out to. have zero tolerance for these kind of things and please be safe. (13/n)
if you ever need to talk about anything my dms are always open and i will try my absolute best to help you in any way i can. please do not bottle up your emotions and be vocal about your problems so you can get the necessary help. please take care of yourself. (14/n)
and last but not the least, #justiceforanjana. i hope her beautiful soul rests in peace. ❤️ #banconversiontherapy #lgbtrights #serveherjustice
let's make this a safe place for everyone to feel accepted. thank you. ❤️🌻
