"For the first time since the Kargil intrusions of 1999, Indian territory is in the hands of foreign soldiers. Starting in the third week of April, more than 5,000 Chinese soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have intruded into five points in Ladakh" https://twitter.com/ajaishukla/status/1264023829778587648
"This is not shaping up like a routine patrol confrontation, or ... temporary occupation ... PLA soldiers are digging defences, preparing bunkers, moving in heavy vehicles & reportedly even moved artillery guns to the rear (albeit in their own territory) to support the intruders"
The Print's report: 'With China bringing in a large number of Border Defence Regiment (BDR) troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) to force the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) ... India has decided to stay “dug in” and conduct “mirror deployment”' https://theprint.in/defence/stand-off-in-ladakh-army-matching-wits-with-china-on-every-step/427887/
Worth noting also that the area of reported Chinese incursion is a "settled" one, so perceived LAC violations are unusual. https://twitter.com/SushantSin/status/1264033088432037890?s=20
"LAC in the Galwan Valley corresponds to China’s official claim line...in sending thousands of troops 3-4km into the Galwan Valley, China has violated its own claim line & occupied territory that Beijing itself has traditionally acknowledged to be Indian" http://ajaishukla.blogspot.com/2020/05/a-new-and-worrying-chapter-ladakh.html
Well. Indian press says an Indian soldier was detained by Chinese ones last week. What's amazing is that India's army chief was playing down the dispute as a routine matter as late as Wednesday ( https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/army-chief-gen-manoj-mukund-naravane-clashes-in-sikkim-ladakh-between-india-china-troops-not-new-2228413). Now looks much more serious. https://twitter.com/ndtv/status/1264241206977945601?s=20
"An Indian patrol party of the army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were detained and later released by Chinese forces after a scuffle between the two sides in Ladakh earlier this week, sources have told NDTV" https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/indian-jawans-detained-later-released-by-china-in-ladakh-last-week-sources-2234082?pfrom=home-topscroll
'A few additional [Indian] infantry battalions have been moved into Ladakh from other areas to ensure they can replace in "rear locations" the acclimatised troops shifted forward to the sites of confrontation with the PLA, said sources on Saturday.' https://twitter.com/aadilbrar/status/1264307142019952642?s=20
. @SushantSin: "Chinese soldiers have crossed the LAC at three places — at Hot Springs and in two locations 15-20 km to the north-west ... At each of these places, around 800-1000 Chinese soldiers have crossed over to the Indian side of the LAC ... 2-3 km" https://indianexpress.com/article/india/m-m-naravane-army-chief-line-of-actual-control-lac-chinese-transgressions-6424478/
