Recent controversy of Map raised by Nepal is continued reminder to India to have more aggressive policy to counter Chinese encirclement plans. Instead of blaming Nepalese India need to plug the root cause i.e China.

1. India and Nepal enjoy  cultural and civilizational link from ancient times. With presence of very tall mountain terrains along the Chinese borders, land-locked Nepal has easy access to the outer world only via the India.
2. China developed its links with the Maoists to serve its security interests in Nepal. The Maoists  in Nepal are sympathetic to China due to ideological affinities. Maoists extended hand towards China as as they were in dire need of support from a strong power.
3. Nepal  is part of  the five fingers policy given  by Mao Zhedong which includes Ladakh, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan and Arunachal. In this Tibbet is palm.
4.India has increased Nepal’s share in its financial aid from IRs. 375 crore to 650 crore for the year 2018-19. India increased aid to Nepal to counter China’s vigorous effort to build up infrastructure projects in its neighbourhood.
5.Chinese projects are not merely confined to the hills and the Himalayan region, but also to the Terai region which happens to be a sensitive zone in Nepal-India affairs and have strategic implications.
6.India’s soft power influence in Nepal has always remained a challenge to pro-China forces in Kathmandu and Beijing. Large number of Indians like Madhesi community and other are residing in Nepal. Large number of Nepalese are employed in India be it Army or other sectors.
7. Nepal is major religious tourism destination for Pilgrims from India. Even priests in major temples are from India. People in tarai region have their cultural, civilizational , marital links with each.
8. Chinese communist party has always tried to disturb the status quo in India's peripheries be it maoism in Nepal, terrorism in North East, Myanmar or even towards pakistan.
9.India need to take chinese threats seriously particularly it's encirclement policy. We have to play the role of big brother as well as guarding South Asia from external influences . India has many positive points to encash upon as compared to China.
