We in India always talk big when we talk about Swadeshi and Make In India, but apart from talking big on Social Media do we really follow this in real life? No! For all of us it's a reel life and nothing in real life.
After so many people have started saying we need Swadeshi Web and Apps alternative to FB, Twitter, What's App, YouTube we brought Squeaks and launched some basic services which will be followed by Advanced versions in coming days, but in the initial phase, this is my experience.
1. We as an Indian need little patience, needs to stop comparing startup with already established giants, no giant company became big overnight and it's always trial and error and then it gets fixed and developed new features as it goes.
Our problem is we talk about Swadeshi just online but when it comes to using it we prefer the same old Videshi companies, and the excuse we give is oh our is still a startup and not yet established like them, but without support from local how can it even grow?
forget about Squeaks it was used just as an example but to every new startup or talent which are homegrown need local support and wide userbase from locals. Many Techy and Professionals going abroad for a career only because of the same reason no local appreciation.
below are the new startups and see where they are today:
1. Starbucks: The very first Starbucks opened its doors in Seattle back in 1971, founded by 3 students from the University.
2. Apple: It started in a garage, headed by a college dropout, you don't need tons of money to necessarily create your first product.
3. Google: In 1995, a couple of college kids met when one was giving the other a campus tour. Computer geeks though and they eventually started the first version of what would eventually become Google-BackRub. They initially worked from garages.
McDonald's: Two brothers opened the first McDonald's "carhop" in 1973 after moving to Cali. from New Hamshire.
KFC: "The Colonel" or Harland Sanders, was 62 years old when he began the move towards profiting on his chicken recipe.
Moral Of the Story:When you want Swadeshi or Make In India first apply in your real life and don't just limit it to online talks and tweets,Appreciate your local talents and never demoralize them by comparing already established giants as those giants once started from the garage
