Today Spain& #39;s radical right is protesting against the government. All very legit, except for the fact that they chant "Freedom, freedom!" while displaying Franco& #39;s flag - the very same flag that symbolises unfreedom. It& #39;s not just populism anymore: it& #39;s pure political dystopia. https://twitter.com/AntonioMaestre/status/1264150300429959168">https://twitter.com/AntonioMa...
And yes, you& #39;re not crazy: the way that Spain& #39;s radical right has chosen to protest against the government has been by taking to the streets with their expensive cars, making a whole lot of noise while gently polluting Madrid at the same time. Environmental & noise pollution, 2x1
Yes, there are people in the protests who are just fed up with the government& #39;s disastrous Covid-19 management. But the fact is that today& #39;s marches have been organized by Vox, Spain& #39;s far-right party. Vox MPs are leading the way, and the rest are following. That& #39;s the reality.
And yes, not all the cars in the protests are "expensive": there are also some humble workers taking part. But it& #39;s very clear who is the mobilizing leadership, the brains behind this initiative: radical right and far right circles who want to see Spain ruled by Franco& #39;s heirs.
