So I just googled "oshisaure" because why not and on page 5 I found a mastodon thread from December about an earlier discussion on my discord. The whole thing was flagged "misgendering/gatekeeping" cause some people were expressing discomfort using it/its to refer to someone(1/5)
Because apparently wanting to treat people as actual people instead of objects or animals is seen as gatekeeping now...? And people take offense because some people feel wrong doing something that they perceive as a massive lack of respect? Am I allowed to disagree here? (2/5)
I know this will upset some people but I don't care, I'm not treating anyone as a fucking object. It gives me the same feeling as someone asking to be treated like a toy in a sexual context: they ask that nit because they want it but they feel like that's what they deserve. (3/5)
And if someone has come to believe that they don't deserve any better treatment than this then there's clearly something wrong and giving them this treatment is not at all gonna help. I know this is not everyone, but in most cases I've seen, it was. Including my own case. (4/5)
So please, can you at least take some time to understand that I will have a hard time refering to you by "it" because it would make me feel like fueling someone's depression, and can you stop calling it motherfucking gatekeeping? Thank you.
