A speculative note on Right Wing journalism.
THREAD-

Recently @opindia was targetted by the self-proclaimed fact checker Altnews for apparently spreading "fakenews", for publishing article based on statements made by a victim's father & not reports of police.
As much as it is true dat police reports are not always reliable & d voice of the unheard has to be spoken thru media, & that biased journalism is a tool more used by Left than Right, we also hv to agree that opindia's narrow focus on news allocation is also to be blamed as well.
Their consistent articles based solely on communal conflict, BJP, Hindutva tags has prevented them 2 b taken seriously.
Dnt get me wrong, these topics are nt of any less importance, bt repeatative content will get ignored eventually no matter how much truth it tells.
If we look into a representative of the Right in print media, we hv a somewhat neutrality if TOI & Indian express, bt that too, hangs on to a thin string. We still lack an revered representative like The Hindu, whose biased left leaning journalism misguides UPSC aspirants.
Another vulnerability of RW is we never disguise our agenda. Left has developed a well rooted Social media ecosystem where handles disguised as entertainment, facts & comic pages indirectly peddle propaganda thru their content to naive and unknowing audience.
Hardly any such disguised RW page is found peddling propaganda secretively. Either we are proudly open or we are not.
Many such left pages have been recently exposed like AIB, The Logical Indian, Feminism in India, Discover Bhubaneswar etc. These pages follow a simple rule
- Start off as an entertainment, facts or comic page
-Gain enough no. Of followers
-Then slowly start injecting propaganda
While almost RW pages have openly mentioned their affiliation on their bio. Even the memers.
These SM pages target young audience as small as school going teenagers who hv access to a smartphone n constantly share comics n memes from these pages. They are the easiest n fastest to brainwash.
RW pages hv a more mature reach with followers limited to mostly adult, earning age groups. Students n teenagers get easily bored in such pages as their content is not "cool" and "modern".
This is backed up by the vast amount of resources available on the context presented by the Left. Every leftist meme or comic has a link to an article written either in the Wire or the Hindu or The Print etc.
And what does a RW has? Opindia? Swarajyamag? Most of them don't even have articles on many topics. RW journalism hardly diverges from Hindutva and political topics.
A vast section of news remains uncovered by the Right journalists which the Left has a strong hold on. For example Architecture. Not only in media, this profession is almost non-existent to common public which runs to local contractors to build a house.
We hv numerous meme pages on Engg & doctors, how many 4 architects? This makes the profession a very coveted grp and the professionals hv to rely on handful amount of SM sources 4 relatable content. This makes them more vulnerable to Propaganda.
One such propagandist page masquerading as cartoonist is "Leewardists". They are basically one of the only Architecture related cartoonist page in India. And the chief of the page Arun Kale is a leftist.
The page has humongous reach to Indian Architectural students. It religiously posts funny and witty comics based on life of architects and architectural students. I personally also find many of their content good.
Now here's the link to the comic posted in their Instagram handle-
https://www.instagram.com/p/B_AWocejAC7/?igshid=7et11n62migm
The comic clearly speaks propaganda. And no, not because it shows Modi as a demon with horns, bt the sheer misinformation it gives thru comic dialogues. The project is shown to be hindering the "open space ratio" of Delhi
& apparantly will cause pollution 2 rise if the vegetation in Central Vista is cleared. Lol. You will find numerous articles of such baseless oppositions against the project just like they did with Sardar Patel statue. Just google it.
The project is represented to be selfish fund wastage by Modi govt(just like Sardar Patelji statue was a wastage of funds) and an ugly capitalist regime on Architecture. Apparently one of them even argued wid me dat Architecture is based on Socialism altogether.🤦
While I was there arguing as a sole architect who has a nationalist perspective, i was bombarded wid links n mentions frm left sources. So I went on to research a bit.
What I found was only articles frm The Wire, The Print, The Caravan, Scroll etc. Not a single RW page or atleast someone who covered the issue on a different approach than the Left-leaning ones.
As i had zero sources to mention, my opinions were declared uneducated or lacking knowledge abt architecture and that I am a rookie who's not an architect at all. Had their been one well-researched, well-reported article to back my opinions, their would hv been less of insult.
However, thanks to some fellow RW who backed me. Atleast they hv got some reliable information than RW pages.
And this led me to understand why is RW not taken seriously in global platforms. Why are there so many "scholars, historians, columnists, eminent journalists" from the Left ecosystem and hardly any such revered identity frm the Right.
Because we are too busy arguing over the past that we are forgetting to hold on to present. We are only spiralling in the BJP daydream. The dawn of RW Journalism after 2014 has been under-used.
Also there is absolutely zero attempt at panelling eminent figures of various professional fields into RW journalism. There are plenty of respected personalities as IAS, IPS, Engineers, Doctors, Architects, Economists...
...who are nationalists and are capable to providing better insight on various matters related to their profession.
Their insights and opinions wud be not only a great source of knowledge bt a will expose the young minds into a whole new perspective other than the left. Their star value will attract audience.
I m not saying we only need a celebrity face to validate our ideology bt a student as young as first year will not look at ur intellectual ability if u hv a 2-digit follower list. Everything has to adjust wid time n pondering in history will not help the RW in the long run.
RW journalists shudnt waste their breath only on polishing the image of BJP or RSS, you hv to come to more practical and realistic grounds. It's high time RW journalism rises up to the "intellectual" level to make it's hold and voice stronger in global audience.
Then only, will the Hindus of India be taken seriously.
