Qatar had included migrant workers when it announced a financial package to the private sector, end of March. https://twitter.com/MigrantRights/status/1245297595376906240?s=20
However, in April, another announcement was made allowing employers to either terminate workers or put them on unpaid leave, with a stipulation that food and accommodation must be provided. https://twitter.com/MigrantRights/status/1255506363654057984?s=20
MR has received several complaints from workers in Qatar that they have not received food/allowance, though most continue to live in their accommodation. Non-payment of wages has been a major problem across the Gulf and has gotten worse since the Covid19 crisis.
This is another case from #Qatar where a large number of workers went back home either empty-handed or with far less than what was due to them https://twitter.com/MigrantRights/status/1058637864660017152?s=20
