So today someone talked about people manufacturing their outrage with the implication that it was at Cummings' behaviour. And the general hypocrisy that abounds.

And I've realised they're right I'm not outraged at Cummings. I'm outraged at my lack of suprise.

I'm no longer suprised that people put the loyalty to their tribe before anything else (and this applies to left and right).

I'm no longer suprised that people (that includes you Rees-Mogg) swallow their espoused beliefs for expediency.

Im no longer suprised that people give up thinking because you know, they only ever vote x.

I'm no longer suprised that people vote for personality rather than policy and competence or even morals.

I'm no longer suprised at the lack of reflection and holding onto something despite all the evidence to the contrary.

So I'm not outraged at Cummings. I'm outraged at my lack of suprise. I'm outraged at my resignation.

I'm outraged that we're in the situation that we've all created in one way or another. I think we've got the politics we probably deserved.

If you want things to change do something differently. We've had years of this, it's just getting worse.

The answer isn't to say , 'well could you do it any better?' when someone criticises this government and feign outrage when the answer is 'yes'. The only way this is going to get better is if we get over party loyalty and vote for policy, competence and ethics.

You have no right to moan about the behaviour of the next generation when you turn a blind eye to the behaviour of the current, including those that lead.

Now, I'm off to finish my swiss roll. Jam and buttercream or just jam?
