Two days ago, the @ekitistategov signed MoU with O'odua Infranco Resource Limited on Broadband Penetration in Ekiti.

Well, I had the opportunity of having a chat with Mr Sammy Adigun, the Chairman/CEO of O'odua Infranco so as to know what the MoU is all about.

Thread.
First, it is important for us to understand the Executive Order 007 that was signed by the governor, @kfayemi some days ago.

The EO Right of Way charges is related to the laying of broadband or any other telecoms Infrastructures in Ekiti shall not exceed #145/per...
Our current average data speed in Ekiti is around 1mbps if not less. This is why people like @CruscioComedy will always be sweating when uploading their video skits on YouTube.

People like @OlajuwonObalola are finding it difficult to improve on Code Ekiti program. Etc.
3. Create jobs
4. Improve access to quality health care
5. Improve digital education
6. And last but not the least, improve the state IGR.

It is important to note that Ekiti state is the first state to slash the price of RoW in Nigeria and issue EO to that effect.
It is also important to state that the slashing of ROW on broadband in Ekiti state is in alignment with the vision of Nigerian National Broadband Plan 2020-2025 developed by @DrIsaPantami which was unveiled by the President in 2019.
Apparently, Ekiti state is the first state in South West where O'odua Infranco is set to lay 606km of fiber both backbone and metro to cover every major streets in Ekiti. Not even Lagos has the entire area covered.

This is the big deal for us in Ekiti.
On the part of Ekiti state government, O'odua Infranco will not even be paying a dime. Instead of paying #145/per metre according to the new EO, the Governor waived it and in exchange, our schools, hospitals and health facilities will be connected by O'odua Infranco.

Big Deal!!
According to NNBP, internet services in the country are currently at 2G, 3G and increasingly 4G mobile networks. Unfortunately, our 4G coverage is available to 37% of the population with Lagos accounting for 80%.
Reason folks like @iamadaratosin are also finding it difficult to set up tech hub in Ekiti state.

Imagine a state with an average of data speed of 1mbps!!!

Therefore, the MoU signed with O'odua Infranco is very significant and strategic.
At the rural communities, the download will be full of 4GLTE of 10mps.

The project is set to commence by October 2020 by Dec 2021, the entire Ekiti state should have been covered.

So ladies and gentlemen, save the date.
Will O'odua Infranco bring it's workers from outside the state?

Mr Sammy Adigun categorically said that over 500 folks will be employed in Ekiti for the duration of the project. Those that will be employed for this project will be well trained.

Job opportunities for our folks.
