This is the most interesting data I've seen in while:
Are the poorest in #Ireland being hit hardest like in many other countries? No. If anything the opposite may be true

@CSOIreland have released new data on #COVIDăƒŒ19's socio-economic impact, I'll explore with 3 graphs

1/
There is strong correlation between mortality and where a person lives. All-cause mortality in Ireland's most deprived quintile is ~60% higher than that of the least deprived quintile (i.e., the most affluent areas).

But that's not true of COVID-19 deaths.

2/
Looking at confirmed cases, the more affluent parts of Ireland have seen higher incidences of confirmed cases.

The least deprived quintile has seen 33% more confirmed cases than the most deprived quintile.

3/
In England, COVID-19 mortality in the most deprived quintile has been roughly double that of the least deprived quintile.

No such differential exists in Ireland. The burden of the disease has been shared more equally across society.

Here's a link to the @CSOIreland's first COVID-19 Insights Bulletin: https://www.cso.ie/en/releasesandpublications/br/b-cdc/covid-19deathsandcases/

Mostly existing info but there are some new stats we didn't have before. Well done to the CSO for making this available 👏
