"10 years into your marriage, and your wife has not been able to give you a son, what will you do?"

Someone asked me this question on a recent liveshow I featured on. Here goes my response.
What am I supposed to do? Kill myself and run away? Rent a son? Or marry another wife? https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😂" title="Face with tears of joy" aria-label="Emoji: Face with tears of joy">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😂" title="Face with tears of joy" aria-label="Emoji: Face with tears of joy">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😂" title="Face with tears of joy" aria-label="Emoji: Face with tears of joy">

I think the pressure to birth a particular gender often leads to a lot of issues, which we may not be able to handle.
In the years before marriage, my mom would often tease me by saying that I will be the one to birth the girls, and I would laugh.

Growing up, I have come to realize that I am not the type to care about gender.
I see children as children, and if they all decide to come as girls, good for me! I& #39;d be raising the most beautiful daughters in the world with Dammy. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😍" title="Smiling face with heart-shaped eyes" aria-label="Emoji: Smiling face with heart-shaped eyes">

A quick personal story.

My parents planned to have just 3 of us. In fact, it was already a perfect trio; two boys and a girl. The girl was the last born, perfect recipe for spoiling. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😂" title="Face with tears of joy" aria-label="Emoji: Face with tears of joy">
But life happened, she passed on. It was painful, and mum wanted another girl, someone to second her in the family. So, my parents tried again. The result came out as male. Okay na, let& #39;s call him Boluwatife - as God wants.
A few years later, they tried again. The result was another male child. It is well, they said.

Then after a few more years, they wondered, it& #39;s not too bad to have a 5th child, maybe this time, it will be a girl. So, they tried again.
As God would have it, he finally blessed them with a beautiful bouncing baby... Wait for it... BOY! https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😍" title="Smiling face with heart-shaped eyes" aria-label="Emoji: Smiling face with heart-shaped eyes">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😍" title="Smiling face with heart-shaped eyes" aria-label="Emoji: Smiling face with heart-shaped eyes">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😍" title="Smiling face with heart-shaped eyes" aria-label="Emoji: Smiling face with heart-shaped eyes">

That was the retirement point for them.

5 boys! Army barracks, and my mum was the Brigadier General. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😂" title="Face with tears of joy" aria-label="Emoji: Face with tears of joy">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😂" title="Face with tears of joy" aria-label="Emoji: Face with tears of joy">
