[tw: physical/sexual abuse]:
in less than 12 hours ive read on my tl about:
-a girl who ran away from home (to a different country) bc her parents physically abused her for taking off the hijab
-a girl who was being blackmailed to send photos of her body and "تتشرمط" ma3 3ayyil—
mutahharrish waty
-infibulations (stitching the vulva closed to prevent girls/women from having sex)
-a child was raped, beaten up, then thrown into the sea
-a girl who was filmed while being stripped, raped, and beaten up
if it only takes 12 hours-worth of tweets on a random—
day from someone who only follows 50 people to read about all of this imagine how many stories actually exist. i think ive heard/seen it all but every day i get more shocked by the amount of suffering women are put through. when i read about experiences like this i think to—
myself: the day before this was her last day living without knowing this trauma. when menna abdelaziz was telling her story of mazen ibrahim filming, stripping, raping, and beating her up she said كانت أول مرة تحصل في حياتي do you understand what this says about life as a woman?—
that even if you were raped/abused/harassed/molested/traumatised at the hands of men (especially) once, you acknowledge that you mind be again? that awwil marra unfortunately (thought it has nothing to do with fortune and everything to do with the actions of others) doesnt mean—
akhir marra. its honestly so devastating that on top of all this shit we as women are still fighting to be seen as equals if not just as fucking human beings. so whether youre calling feminists attention whores bc you think that makes you quirky or bc you have a misconception—
about what feminism is, or whether youre embarrased to call yourself a feminist bc as a girl youll be seen as “faseela” and as a guy youll be seen as a “simp” just think about what you just read. think of how many times woman and victim are ever used synonymously in a sentence—
about how many times you/people you know have criticised a victims (ie womans) reaction instead of a perpetrators action “aslu hayihsal hayihsal” thinking theres nothing we can do about it. there is.. so start with yourself
id also just like to add that since i posted this (1 HOUR AGO) this list has already grown :)
