Fuck it I might as well say what I thought of the sequel trilogy

The force awakens
Ehh its alright
Its just a mediocre remake of the force awakens filled with trite dialogue and poorly thought out ideas that most likely were born of studio interfernce
Tho what does make this film a passable flick is its focus around Finn

An actually likeable character who nearly goes thru all of the important steps in the heroes journey
Who was well played by John boyega
It's been said before If this film series wanted to be good it should have centered on finn as opposed to get
And quite

Frankly while I agree with most of the sentiment I feel like it would have been more interesting to have finn not be connected with the force would have theoritcally been an a better film and franchise
The camera work is also fine
And the action is above average

The cast except for one specific person who I'll get to do an good to alright job with Adam driver having the potential to have been a good villain if this series didnt suck
Time to get to one actress who I can say doesnt do a good job
Daisy Ridley and her character rey

Now I want to state firmly that I do believe daisy is a good actress
She was in a movie about a British chick I quite liked and she did an excellent job in that film
Shame she couldnt have done that here
I genuinely do not know why her performance is so bad it can literally be

Boiled down to bulge eyes and wiggle eyebrows like your climaxing
Its very clear she was nervous in her role amd wasnt quite clear how to act in a film of this style or didnt care
Tho who could blame her for not giving it her all when she waa cast with rey the perfect archetype

Of the Mary sue
She bypasses compressors and character development
Her only defining flaw is occasionally tearing up and being clumsy
Everybody even the villains like her and if they don't then they die
She near masters the force first in the first film is an ace with a gun desp

Ite never using one before
She can redirext other peoples lightning
Move mountains
Bring back the dead
Even her enemies causally harm and hamper themselves when dighting her
The only thing she cant do is make an interesting protagonist
I hate Rey shes a bad

Character who was forced down the publics throat and who ever criticised her was called a sexist or a manbaby or something else stupid
BB-8 had better development then her and he was made to sell toys
My opinion of Rey throughout the whole trilogy has been states here and will

Not be repeated the only other thing I have to say about her is that she gets worse in the sequel

2.5/4 its got enough good to make it tolerable but is ultimately just mundane

The last Jedi
Oh Lord okay I might as well say the. Things I liked about this film first
The woman who plays rose ticos sister who is in the film for a very short time was in an excellent South Korean action movie called fury. Which serves as an excellent palate

Cleanser after this film
The film is visually apealling
The ticking clock element of the film was an alright but poorly executed idea
There that all the complements I have to say about this film this ruddy awful film
Now lets get to the bad
The writing is full of contrivance and

Plot holes which are so blindly dumb and contradictory to the previous film all because rian doesn't care about cohesiveness in a priject he didn't come up with
The film is desperate to pick a tone between awful comedy reminscient of a mcu ripoff or dark seriousness and

Its inability to pick a tone only hampers the film giving off a take this seriously but also how could you take this seriously vibe which causes tonal whiplash strong enough to damage the audiences IQ
The films writing is pretentious self fellating shitshow which

Pretends to evoke "deep themes" which make kiddy pools look deep
The central message is
"Hurr de dur capitalism bad but still give all money"
"Hurt de dur war bad"
And other bullshit which wouldnt be out of place in a goth kids diary
Now before we go on I must say

That while I hate what rian has done with the film I do enjoy some of his othe work such as brick or looper
And controversially knivas out
That being said it's obvious he did not care about anything in this film or franchise and should stick to relatively low budget indie pics

Now that we have that out of the way lets get to the worst thing in this film the characters. From rose caring more about the aniamls then children slaves to Finn not being allowed to reach the perfect conclusion of his arch thanks to rian wanting to wax pretentious
Or luke

Getting his character which had been established across 3 filns ruined so rian could make Rey look good for marketing
Then there's admiral hux essentially a tension killer who exists merely to be the but of jokes played by poe our shite replacement for han solo

Then snoke who exists and dies
Followed purple hair woman who exists to provide bad strategy and the films "hur dur man bad" message
The only real character I can say worked in this film is Kyle who actually had development

Finally we get to the action
The stuntmen are well directed in the scenes that needes them it pulls punches to protext main characyers from harm the majority is cgi which comes off more as a animators reel than a engaging action scene.
The choreagraphy is flat and boring
Its

The symbolism is way to obvious and only really works in scenes with Kyle
And the ending is just anticlimactic
