Kaya may gusto kaming i-share sa inyo tungkol sa approach ng @lingapsining when it comes to coping during crisis.
3rd month of quarantine.
Ngayong COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve been offering kids and families different creative activities to cope with quarantine. Pero alam mo ba na ang approach namin in using the arts to weather difficult times and situations was already realized decades before?
In 1990, our artist-teachers felt the need to respond to the disasters of that time. We had no funds, but we have our art! So we started using our Integrated Theater Arts Workshops as a way to process experiences and also as a creative outlet.

@lingapsining is our contribution to humanitarian assistance in the context of the new normal. We facilitate workshops for people to analyze/identify safe & unsafe areas in communities & to improve their skills so they can better adapt to changing situations.

Naniniwala kami ni @lingapsining na importanteng mapaunlad ang “culture of safety” – keeping yourself & others safe during a pandemic/disaster.
But we can start the “culture of safety” in our homes. In a way, parang tayo ang first line of defense for ourselves and our families. Ingatin nating hindi mahawa at hindi makahawa sa iba.
In times of crisis, the people & the communities and their capacities should be prioritized. Let’s enhance our knowledge, capacities & system toward keeping everybody safe. And as we cope, always remember that the arts is an effective tool during times like these.

“We must continue to learn and develop our artistic practice by grounding within the local context. Through this, we can cultivate further use of the arts and culture towards the COMMON GOOD.” - @lingapsining

With or without a pandemic, life is hard in the Philippines as it is. People get by for a day’s work. Most people only think for that day. But when we think of preparedness against disasters, it’s important to think beyond the now.
It’s also important to think beyond OURSELVES. Let’s always look out for one another. We can also turn to the arts for reflection and comfort during these trying times.
