Couple people asking me about the pybara comment and how it makes sense when vegeta is a super elite. To put it simply, it's character development at it's finest. A short thread
Vegeta's mindset & philosophy was that the rank of a saiyan determined who was stronger & therefore those under him will never be able to surpass him. His pride & ego was his downfall further down the line as he would rather stay stubborn and rely on zenkai boosts to get stronger
However vegeta's philosophy was soon cracked and then shattered. Once when goku matches him in their first fight and the second time when vegeta witnesses a super saiyan. His obsession of potential = determining power went straight out the window. Vegeta then started to train
Ofc vegeta still believes that potential helps. But he soon adopted goku's philosophy and worked the way goku did. Infact he worked even harder. By this point in the android saga... vegeta has already subconsciously admitted to goku being better than him. Buu saga he was concious
Vegeta said goku was better PHILOSOPHY WISE not strength wise. That realisation caused vegeta to change completely hence why he still trains to be better than goku. It's just his philosophy has now changed. Vegeta worked exactly like goku in order to be strong. But then...
Vegeta realised that he is not goku. He is an individual hence why he now goes a different path. One where he takes gokus teachings and adapts it into his own fighting style. Vegeta is still a saiyan a heart. He's just not as stubborn anymore.
