Shitty things that happened to me while working at Subway.

A Thread.... Part 1.

I say part 1 cause there could be many... there was a lot of shitty things that happened... a lot

Had a customer get mad at me because he asked for Italian bread and I pulled out white (which is Italian). I then asked if he meant herb and cheese and he was like "yeah that's what I said. Italian!!"

Came in to an afternoon lunch rush and the morning person forgot to make 3 platters cause the order page wasn't put where it was supposed to. This guy saw me walk in with my uniform not fully on 5 minutes before my shift started and yelled at ME for his platters not being done.

I said "Sir, you just saw me come in through that door. I haven't been here in 3 days and know nothing about your order, but I will gladly make it for you now I can do it in less than 10. Him and his wife then continued being dicks to me and I wanted to cry the rest of the day

one of my bosses was a total dick and thought it was okay to express his concerns for my managers sexual health in front of us staff cause she was on depo for birth control and he was cornered she'd never have kids again. She had 3 already... she wasn't having more

Same boss as above made us work around rats for months while he tried catching them with traps rather than calling an exterminator cause he didn't want to shut down for a few days... a rat ran across my foot while making a customer's sub and I had to act normal

got in trouble (same boss as above) for throwing out veggies that someone didn't want after accidentally putting them on the sub cause it was wasteful. He wanted me to put them all back in the bins AFTER they had touched other veggies, meats & cheese...

I said, "That's a health issue... people have allergies and this is a subway protocol." Him - "well just do it when the inspectors here."

Rats bit holes in our sauce bags and my boss (shitty brother of the shitty boss above) wanted us to save them all and tape the holes over cause he wasn't throwing them out to lose money... we threw them out and got in trouble.

Shitty boss made us join a group chat where he swore, humiliated and belittled staff members in front of others for forgetting to do things or doing something incorrectly, even though he never showed us how to do it right... yup, that was great.

I made a guy a sub and then our debit wasn't working. I let him know there was an atm up the road. He went and came back saying he wasn't using it cause of the surcharge fee as he literally only had enough for the sub. I had him try the card again, debit still down. I apologized

and he literally looked at me and said "well can I still have my sandwich?" I'm like, I'm sorry but you can't have it if you didn't pay... he then said "its not my fault I can't pay. it's your machine, not my card." I again told him I couldn't give him the sub. He THEN says

"well I put in all this work to have a sub made and I feel like I deserve it." YOU WHAT?? Dude I made this sub... i did the work. Wtf did you do? So he then demanded me to call my boss. So I did and let the guy talk to him. He did his little rant and hands the phone back to me.

My boss then tells me to just take the card number down. I tried explaining to my boss that it wasn't a credit card, but debit... he was convinced he could charge this debit card... so I literally had to be the fool and wrote this guy's card number down...

he walked out smiling cause he knew he just got a free sub and I had to look like an idiot then got in trouble for cash being short Yay me...

Shitty boss (again) never allowed us breaks even if we worked an 8 hour shift and he was going against labor laws. He even wrote a sign and put it on the board saying we weren't allowed to sit on shift at any point.

He would watch the cameras to spy on us. I had a concussion so had to sit. He called the store to ask my manager why I was sitting down. I was working with a concussion my dude... i should have been at home but didn't get paid sick days and needed the money. Fuck off.

Shitty boss started to hire only immigrants cause he would abuse their hardwork and made them do things that were not safe or legal cause they were afraid not to listen to him... (made me so sad cause they were hard workers and he was being a total dick)

He told one of the co workers to change the dates on everything every night during the week the inspector was going to come cause he wanted to make sure nothing was "expired." She did this cause she didn't know it was wrong and kept changing the dates...

well, me and my manager noticed the chicken one day had a weird smell... we peeled off the date sticker to see the original... GUYS, IT WAS ALMOST A WEEK OLD! We threw it and 3 other combros out.

My shitty boss then got mad at us for throwing them out (they smelled HORRIBLE) and then said we weren't allowed to prep anything anymore cause we were wasteful and made us work lunch rushes without prep... we had to keep going back to prep DURING the rushes (we secretly prepped)

Also, when I quit I wrote a giant 20 page report and sent it to our inspector with pictures of abusive text messages and outlining all the horrible things my shitty boss did and had other co workers back me up annnnnnnnnd nothing happened. Fuck me, right?
