Today (23rd May 2020) is the International Day to End Obstetric Fistula. Obstetric fistula is a medical condition in which a hole develops in the birth canal as a result of childbirth-this can be between the vagina and rectum, ureteror bladder. #YSMANG
The theme for this year is

"End Gender Inequality! End Health Inequities! End fistula now!”

This reflects an important step forward in eradicating this preventable condition, which affects an estimated two million women and girls mostly in Sub Saharan Africa.
Most women who develop fistula usually caused by prolonged, obstructed labour, remain untreated for their entire lives, and the condition can easily recur in women and girls whose fistula has been surgically treated but who receive little or no medical care #EndFistula
However Fistula usually preventable and curable. Adequate Health Care should be made available, accessible and affordable. Child spacing and family planning should be encouraged while child marriage should be discouraged. #WomenHealthMatter
