4 April 2020: the CM of Gujarat visited Ahmedabad Civil Hospital for the first time because he was trying to hawk "ventilators" called Dhaman 1 that he claimed was efficient and cheap, and was provided by Jyoti CNC.

15 May: ICU Suprintendent writes to Gujarat Gov asking for more ventilators & those provided were useless. Journalist interviewing doctors & patients found out Dhaman 1 provided by CM & mentioned in the Press weren't ventilators, but AMBU bags by Jyoti CNC!

The most deaths have been in the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. This reflects in the death rates across hospitals in Gujarat, which is highest where the machines CM @vijayrupanibjp procured were used.

Gujarat Health Secy held out until yesterday from addressing media. Yesterday she did a Press Conference where she defended it for 88 mins, while other States procure Dhaman 1 & HLL Lifecare, a PSU, procured 5000 machines. States like Puducherry are cancelling orders

The SOP is that Drugs and Machines are thoroughly examined before applying them in hospitals, so it beggars belief how the CM @vijayrupanibjp didn't know the ventilators he provided were ventilators. There is more afoot here than incompetence.

Now it is time for us to ask the questions the families of the patients are asking. Why were AMBU bags called ventilators ~10 times in the CM's Press Conference? Why did Gujarat Gov pursuade other States & PSUs to buy AMBU bags posing as ventilators?
