there aren't many references in this issue, and since it's greek mythology, i think everyone is familiar with it, so i won't go too deep with this one

the name "minotaur" means mino's bull, and you'll see why
the minotaur was a greek monster, why the body of a man and the head of a bull
poseidon sent a glorious white bull to minos, the king of crete, as a sacrifice he should offer to the god, but instead, he decided to keep him
alive
poseidon was pissed off, obvi, so as punishment he made pasipahe, minos wife, fall in love with the bull,
pasiphae gave birth to a child ?) but he was a monstrosity, so minos decided that he should be hidden form public eye bc that was an πŸ‘‡
so he had daedalus create a labyrinth intricated enough to keep the minotaur prisoner
years later, minos son was killed in athens, and the king decided that every 9 years seven athenian men n women should be sent to crete to die in the labyrinth as a compensation for his dead son
it went on for 30 years or so, until theseus volunteered to go, and, with the help of ariadne, daughter of minos, he killed the monster and ended the tribute. theseus escaped with ariadne, and they lived happily ever after....
ha! they didn't :c

hecate is a goddess of greek mythology, capable of both good and evil
she was associated with witchcraft, magic, the moon, doorways, and creatures of the night like hell-hounds and ghosts. she is often depicted carrying a torch to remind of her connection with the night
and in sculpture with three faces, representing her role as the guardian of crossroads, but also in her role as part of the triple goddess, "mother, maiden, crone" , but we'll talk about that later on this thread 😏
