Fun fact. Konkan Railway under the Vajpayee government developed the Skybus Metro, an indigenous suspended Monorail designed by B Rajaram.

Guess who was the most vocal opponent of the project? Rajaram's predecessor at Konkan Railway E Sreedharan, the man who oversaw the completion of India's ambitious railway project.

While most people credit Sreedharan with the Delhi Metro, I credit him for the Konkan Railway more than anything.

Yet, Sreedharan has opposed newer projects including the Skybus Metro and also .... *drumroll* ... the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail.
