2/n This is the data of the four places where 80% Chinese transgressions have been recorded since 2015. Pangong Tso (25%), Trig Heights (22%) and Burtse (19%) in Ladakh, and Dichu (14.5%) in Arunachal Pradesh.
At Pangong Tso, Chinese transgressions almost doubled from a five-year low of 72 in 2018 to 142 in 2019 - both in the waters of the lake, and its northern banks. There were 112 transgressions in 2017, and 164 and 77 in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
Galawan river is not a disputed portion of the LAC. It is a "settled area" and thus there are hardly any Chinese transgressions recorded there. Only six transgressions in past five years, and that makes the current situation so very alarming and serious.
Same is the case with Naku La where Chinese and Indian patrols came to blows earlier this month. It has recorded only 4 transgressions in last five years. This is again a new site where tensions are being witnessed.
To sum up, 80% of Chinese transgressions at four places on the LAC, three of them in Ladakh have two-thirds of overall transgressions. The most common site of Chinese transgressions on to the Indian side is Pangong Tso - 25% of all the transgressions on LAC are recorded there.
(n/n) Conclusion: Among the current sites of tensions with the Chinese, Pangong Tso is a known case and still Chinese soldiers have walked up to Finger 2 and camped there. Galawan is worrying because it is a settled site, with no dispute about the LAC, and Chinese have walked in.
