I saw all 10 hours of #TheLastDance and have only read the intro and the first six pages of Sam Smith’s “The Jordan Rules,” but I’m here to reiterate that no film, no matter how-well-produced, can hold a candle to a good book.
Mike was pissed with Bulls management because he told Johnny Dawkins they’d draft him during pickup games in N.C. That offseason. Then, they didn’t.

He referred to Will Perdue as “Will Vanderbilt” because “he didn’t deserve to be named after a Big 10 school.”
Bulls were up 2-1 against Detroit in the ‘89 ECF. Doug Collins wants Mike to shoot a little less because he took 31% of the team’s shots through the first four games. MJ so petty he shoots eight times in Game 5 to prove a point and they go on to lose the series in six.
Reminded me of when the Lakers were up 3-2 against the Suns in the first round of the ‘06 playoffs. Kobe goes for 50 in Game 6, but they still lose. Then, after being criticized of being a ball hog, he shoots the ball three times in the second half of Game 7 and they lose by 31.
“The Jordan Rules” is an amazing by itself, but going back and watching clips of the games mentioned in the book on YouTube enhances the experiences that much more. I don’t think Hoops head realize how many full games from back in the day are on there.
Stacey King’s girlfriend told Horace Grant’s wife, “My boyfriend’s going to take your husband’s job,” when she met her.
Mike didn’t start lifting weights until 90-91. He got his own trainer because the Bulls’ locker room was extremely competitive. Horace Grant was lifting like an NFL D-lineman and it’d take MJ years to get as strong as Will Perdue. Didn’t want to be showed up.
Just learned the real reason Mike didn’t like Reggie Theus. Funny2Mee.
