But first the obvious, a PIA plane crashed just short of the runway earlier today.
It was Juma tul Wida, a holy day, and the eve of Eid. Eid is the festival that marks the end of #Ramadan /
The flight appears to have been the first to allowed to operate after the Government lifted travel restrictions related to the #coronavirus.
Only one confirmed survivor-the President of a Bank. The crew, passengers, and an unknown number of ppl on the ground were lost/

We know that Captain Sajjad Gul (no relation) aborted a landing, did a go around.
He then reported he could not climb to his assigned 3000 feet. The plane he began losing control. And he still almost made it.
Segments of the Pakistani media and public are blaming him. Don’t. /

He came very close... another 20 seconds and 200 meters and no one would have heard about #PK8303.

No, there is zero evidence so far that the pilot, crew, maintenance staff, or management did anything wrong.

Addendum Two: a certain journalist affiliated with a Western agency insists the Captain Gul didn’t lower the landing gear. No:
1. Alarm would sound
2. Co-pilot check
3. ATC visual.
4. How would the plane TAKE OFF again if it had bellylanded? Increasing thrust would rip it apart
Addendum Two continue: is it possible that he belly landed? Yes.
But the calm voice on ATC does not fit the profile of a man who would override that many warnings to land and take off again.
At a minimum he would advise ATC of the problem and discuss with co-pilot.

Stop denigrating the pilots. They were experienced flyers.
They have grieving families. There’s nothing to pin the blame on them.
