first of all, they both are not as happy as they seem. they cover up their emotions and come off as upbeat and cheery. and bc of this, people don’t really think to check up on them a lot.

they’re both huge stoners. trevor and jj were both always smoking in almost every scene they were in. enough said
^ adding to that, they both have a certain lighter that just sticks to them. one lighter that they always have on them, weather it’s a comfort item or it’s just to have (bonus: they’re both zippo lighters)
they both have supposed best friends that really aren’t that good of friends lmao. john b wasn’t even there for jj most of the time, when he got arrested, when the pouges found out his father hit him. he was with a girl. the same for brandon, he was so caught up with a girl+
+that he didn’t realize how bad trevor (his best friend) was hurting.
they both deeply care about their friends bc they are the only reason that they’re still going. their friends are their lifelines. (ex: jj taking the fall for pope and getting mad when rafe says something ab kie, trevor yelling “please don’t hurt her” when rowan gets trapped+
+ and telling brandon that maybe he should stop after getting a text telling him to stop looking for zoe)
