So She-Ra was making me want to watch Steven Universe real bad, so that's what I'm doing now
Seems like the big thing She-Ra is missing for me, is a bunch of thirty something women who have been through some shit
Living in a ramshackle house on a beach somewhere with three or four other women, raising together the child of our deceased partner/friend. That's the dream, right?
Long time fans will appreciate this:
Susan Egan's (bless her heart) first credit for SU is playin a "tiny whale" in the Rose's Room episode.
The way long plot threads are layered into the fabric of the show from the start is just astounding

I'm honestly of two minds about the kind of "let the kid do their own thing for a few days" approach to parenting Steven seems to get. meh, it's just a cartoon
the decision of "we're not going to cast *anyone* who can't sing at least ok", that's real foresight.
If you skimp on that with any of your leads, that's it, you kinda missed the boat.

So many of these early episodes are doing serious world building. Like, well over half. But also, it's all silly adventures, I think for a first time viewer it's hardly noticeable at this point
I'd say all of them are, because the episodes that don't teach you about the gems teach out about the characters, but honestly I don't care about the beach city folks, so
nobody:
all the gays: I'm Pearl
all the gays: I'm Pearl
I know I'm blazing through this, but I'm having an off day and I really want to get to the good part
Episode 37 - Alone together is very seeet. Everything about it is just sweet
A note: I’m keeping this thread spoiler free for now. That’s probably going to become untenable at some point, I guess if you read this and really don’t want spoilers tell me?
