ALRIGHT LET'S GO LET'S GO LET'S GO
In 2010 I hotglued my trenchcoat for Balalaika together 30 minutes before my judging time.

Tbh that's less of a cosplay fail and more of a cosplay sin but here we are
Not only did I neglect to put any support garments or petticoats under this skirt, I literally made the skirt... out of a hoopskirt. And threw away the hoop.

( @SoulfirePhotos still made me look cool though. ❤️)
I didn't know how to dye or style wigs in 2008. I also thought that gluing craft foam to a bandeau bra with no support was an excellent idea.

(But also, considering that Space Yoko was like my 6th or 7th costume? Not bad.)
In 2014, I started working on Mirai. I just... never finished it.

( @ZeronXepher still got pictures though, so it lives on!)
Okay so in 2010 I had the right idea. I took apart the top of my prom dress to use it as a pattern for a new top to make it work for Celty's character song dress. But I failed to account for the fact that the original top had darts, so there was no proper shaping.
Fun fact: I had 6 different wigs for Saber because I kept messing them up.
Hot glue and safety pins, thy name is Ryutaros Natsumi from Kamen Rider Decade.

Back on the cosplays-I-never-finished train, I never actually made the shirt for Momoko. It's a piece of fabric that I tucked into the ace bandage binding (throw me in cosplay jail now).
I really wish I had actually made a properly structured bodysuit and bodice for Princess of the Crystal.
The first wig I styled for Mami took several attempts, and I never did get it quite right.
I don't know where to start with this picture of Massacre Euphie from 2008 so I'll just let it speak for itself.
Anybody remember Spinzaku and Faillouch from 2008 because I certainly do

Honestly this cosplay isn't a fail as much as a pure win
Okay so

Don't procrastinate on your costumes. Don't con crunch.

Otherwise you end up like me, sobbing on the hotel room floor while you glue rhinestones on your Love Live costume at 3 am the night before judging.
You know, as much as I'm pointing out my "fails", at the end of the day they're really just things I didn't know yet, and I can't fault myself for that.

Maya's a good example of that. Back then I was still learning about fabrics and wigs. But I was still proud of what I'd made.
Gonna end this thread with what is quite possibly my favorite picture from Animazement 2018.
