i have been considering cancel culture as a whole and here's why i think it's dumb:
while i agree that celebrities shouldn't be given the platform and status they have, they are given it and unfortunately you can't take that away from them
now you're judging them on their ability to live up to YOUR moral codes which are subjective, open to change and defined mostly by society, of which changes almost every generation.
now if you want to not listen to a person's music cus you have moral objections; that is fine, but if someone else wants to listen to their music you can't go around bullying them and forcing them not to
basically you can't force your moral code onto someone because your moral code is not more legitimate than their moral code. you can't objectively argue that what you think is right and wrong should be placed and enforced on everyone else. that is just what is right and wrong 2 u
also, all your moral objections have to be on the basis that you are without doubt a flawless and good person, which is impossible as all humans are flawed and will do something wrong in their life. therefore, cancel culture is stupid
also this essay was brought to you from a secular/human perspective, not a religious one.
Also this: society should seek to educate and improve. punishment and abandonment does nothing to help. we should seek for self betterment and communal betterment. https://twitter.com/momoalas93/status/1263995060204515330?s=19
