THIS IS HUGE. After hundreds of people called @SpeakerPelosi in the last 24 hours, Politico is now reporting that House leadership plans to allow a vote on a crucial amendment to the #PatriotAct that would require the FBI to get a warrant before creeping on your Internet activity
I cannot emphasize enough that this WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED without the massive grassroots outpouring, the phone calls, tweets, and emails, and the awesome work of organizations like @fightfortheftr @freepress and @demandprogress. But also we can't take our eyes off the prize yet
First we need to verify that the text of the amendment that will be voted on in the House is sufficient and that it does the same thing as the Wyden/Daines amendment that failed in the Senate by just one vote. Then we need to make sure it gets passed in both houses.
We're organizing a DAY OF ACTION this Tuesday, May 26th, the day before the expected House vote. Everyone please share http://SaveInternetPrivacy.org  widely on social media. If you run a website, put a link on your homepage. Got an app? Send a push notification. SOUND THE ALARM!
If we can pull this off it will be one of the most significant victories in the fight to rein in mass government surveillance since Edward @Snowden's revelations. There's lots more work to be done. Please retweet, spread the word, and get ready to fight like hell.
