So mad about how this entire campaign is just a self-fulfilling prophecy from the demographic most responsible for getting us here to begin with: white men

This statistic is rarely publicly parsed, but 62% of white men voted for Donald Trump. The ~7% of white men voting third party was undoubtedly responsible for the gap in Hillary Clinton’s numbers in key states. White dudes are almost 100% responsible for all of this shit.

So immediately after one of the most bizarre and lopsided EC wins in US history, that very same white male demographic turned around and blamed everyone else. And Joe Biden is the result of that blame.

Because we had it said over and over again that anyone who embodies a challenge to Donald Trump’s interminable fount of hatred will fail because of insufficient support from white men. And looking at where we are, it’s true.

So white men are just going to hold all of us fucking hostage. And don’t “not all white men” me because 62% is a fucking lot. It is enough that only 1 white guy in 3 can defend his vote in the most important election of our lifetimes.

We’re going to have to endure Joe Biden being peak old white guy because white men basically threatened us with *more of this* if we don’t give them an old white man sufficiently hostile to the real needs of marginalized people.

And I will say: I am fucking sick of it. I am. I’m mad. I’m going to curse about it. I’m going to vote — as a member of the most loyal fucking voting block in this country — and I’m going to fight like hell to elect Democrats. But I won’t pretend to be happy about it.

Because the bargain, as far as I can tell, is for my loyalty, I get: fucking nothing. I get nothing. Not going to get any assistance with dying at higher rates, or with the extreme generational poverty, or with the environmental racism exacerbated by climate change. Nothing.

Instead, our bargain is that our government will stop intentionally hurting us. We will stop being beaten, but receive no treatment for our wounds. It’s just supposed to be enough not to be hit anymore. That’s what it means to be a Black voter.

And instead of asking how deeply fucked up that paradigm is, instead of asking how we have been forced into this sadistic choice as voters, we’re getting excuses as to why all of this is actually good for us — from the same white male media gaze that set us up to begin with.
