Also, dear Feds...if I have to waddle into the office to type out warrants & swear before a judge, you should too before looking at our internet searches. For real. Get a warrant like a grown up

I grow weary listening to federal law enforcement (they’re law enforcement not cops, huge difference) say they need more info without warrants cuz it’s so hard blah blah. Look. You have by comparison infinite resources & the luxury of only picking winning cases. Get a warrant

I’ve been a Fed with infinite resources working overseas unburdened by warrants. I’m now a local cop with I guess gas money and the US Constitution. I want badly to solve felonies for my neighbors. And so I get a warrant. The patriot act ain’t for patriots. Get a warrant.

We work serious crimes. Where time is a factor. And there is NEVER a moment where the law gets in the way. Too many voters and officials think the tv show 24 is reality but it’s not. So stop being so stupid. There is ALWAYS time for the law. It’s all that matters. Get a warrant..

Just today I’m looking at information that I needed to help with a serious case & it’s not enough. It’s not. We all say ‘no way we swear an oath for that’ and so we keep working. The law doesn’t just protect criminals. It protects us from becoming criminals. So...Get a warrant.

Today I told myself I didn’t have enough probable cause or even legal authority to move ahead with a case and I also told two colleagues that they didn’t either. Our limitations are our power.

And often it turns out I don’t have enough to get a warrant. It stinks. But thems the rules. And the rules aren’t technicalities. They’re the point of it all. Embrace that or find a new line of work.
