A thing I often consider is the nature of my questions about settings.
Per the usual, @ninbinz and I were hashing this out over a coffee.
Because of course we were.
We spent some time talking about just how different approaches can be. /1

Things like, “What cultures does your world have?” or “Is there a culture where x happens?” or “What festivals are there?” or “I know I’m playing a monster race. Is that gonna be an issue?”
It’s interesting. I thought I was alone or in rare company. /2

But the more PoC play with, the easier it is to see that I’m not.
It’s interesting. I thought about why that is and the one thing that comes to mind? I’m used to a world that doesn’t bend around me.

DM: “So what’s your character concept and background?”
Typical PC: “I’m Conan. Rawr.”
Me: “So before I answer that, how does your world view tieflings? Is that the same everywhere? Do they have communities? How many?...” /4
