When I was younger, my mum knew of a mixed race Black child whose white mother had divorced and got herself a new racist boyfriend who didn’t like walking down the street with her, as in his tiny mind it told the world his gf had had sex with a Black man.

The child was becoming increasingly traumatised so my mum invited her to Sunday lunch with me my brother and my cousins “so she could see some black faces”. I mean that’s tragic. I hope she’s okay now.

So yes jokes about mixed race Black kids growing up around white family members only aren’t funny to me. There’s a reason mixed race kids are the biggest non-white group in social care, 4 times overrepresented.
