It wouldn’t have gotten to this point if Dems had been present & competing everywhere. But we did the equivalent of letting our kids throw food on the floor & letting it fester while we abandon house to address the rats two neighborhoods over cuz their rat problem is “winnable.”

We can’t ignore problems in our own house & expect everything to be fine. If we do nothing, they’re still there, reproducing, lining up to eat the Cheerios.

We need to have pride in ownership. Show up, clean up, patch the holes, & call an exterminator—as many times as it takes.

That means competing EVERYWHERE. That means supporting candidates ESPECIALLY in “unwinnable” districts. That means investing in communities where Dems have not been present enough & showing our policies are the best. & going back to the 50 state strategy, or closest we can get.

The most poignant observation from years of trying to retire the crazy man repping gerrymandered MD01 w HALF THE COUNTIES IN MD is ideology hardly matters, but showing up does.

Most people don’t know who their Reps ARE, nvm what they do. They notice if you’re there. If you care.

This cuts both ways. If Trump GOP is the only side showing up, that’s all people see. They control the narrative. They can tell people their policies are unicorns & fairy dust, and it doesn’t matter that it’s a lie, as it’s all they heard. Should we be surprised they get elected?
