One thing I find super interesting about the sequel trilogy is how it ties the family thread into the characterization of our 3 main heroes

particularly the fact that they all are nobodies, with the immediate villain being the antithesis of that, coming from legacy
Rey and Poe both lost their parents at a young age before mental maturity and had to grow up essentially alone

Finn, being kidnapped at a young age, never knew his parents

Rey and Poe both find refuge with Kylo& #39;s parents, as Finn finds refuge within the friends he meets
Rey and Han have essentially a very similar upbringing, making him such a perfect choice as her first mentor figure within the trilogy

Rey reminds Han of himself, and how after running from the new fight, that he could be better, and that he should inspire her to become more
Poe and Leia have a very interesting surrogate mother and son relationship, Poe being a "Han Solo type" its quite clear why this would work out

Poe is essentially a direct mirror to Kylo in a lot of ways

as Kylo tries so hard to be bad, Poe tries so hard, too hard, to be a hero
As Rey reminded Han of how he failed and regressed into running from his mistakes and fears, and how he could still rise to the occassion

Poe represents Leia& #39;s attempt at fixing the wrongs she had as a mother, which carries to her connection with Rey, and to reaching out to Ben
Finn on the other hand carries the throughline on how you can find family in anyone, even your friends, through him having the first relationship with every new character
on a side note, Han and Leia realizing their failings as parental figures and fixing that with Rey and Poe, which led them to mending the rift between them and Ben

Luke& #39;s entire arc in TLJ is realizing his failings as a master, with Ben, failing again with Rey
through this he learns what it means to be a master, with one final lesson from Yoda

and facing his fear, which carries another throughline in of itself
3 Nobodies help mend the rift between Kylo, the child born from legacy, to rise to be better

they do this through helping the legacy characters reflect, grow, and pass on they& #39;re experiences

Everyone rises.
Anyways I made this thread to layout the foundation of one of the ST& #39;s main messages

Family. Not only family, but answering the question: What is family?

Also why Poe should& #39;ve had a conversation with Kylo and why Finn was meant to be the one to rally the galaxy
but I digress
